Ultra Major…

is the product of four guys who grew up listening to 90s guitar rock.  Take one part MTV Buzz Bin and 120 minutes; mix in plenty of big album rock a la Pixies, early Smashing Pumpkins, and Sonic Youth; shake it all up with indie/post-hardcore bands like Knapsack, Superchunk, Chavez and late 90’s and early 2000s punk & hardcore compilations; and pour on some catchy melodies for good measure.  Then pop that in the oven of a tiny rehearsal space in Brooklyn, slow roast it for a few years, and voila, you have Ultra Major’s self-titled debut.  Simply put, it’s a ripper. Singer Ty Jontz says:

“Here we are, almost four years later and our first full length record is finished. This wasn’t a moment for hugs and high fives, more of a “alright…..what’s next?”. It feels like a solid starting point, more so than a finished accomplishment.  We wrote a lot of jams. We ordered a lot of take out. We scrapped a lot of jams. We ate all the take out. In the end, we threw nine buzz worthy burners on this record and called it done. Because these songs were written over a four year span (some just two months ago) there’s a lot that was said. Mainly relationships, the good and the bad. Some about hope/hopelessness. Some songs about our drummer who lived in a van for a while called ‘Mama’s Dream.’”
